Gig review: Ryan McMullan

Ryan McMullan, remember the name.

Ryan is one of those acts that we’ve been following for a while and waiting patiently for tour dates and new music, which, unfortunately, can take a little while with unsigned artists! However, out time came and we got the opportunity to see him @ The Borderline, London.

Opening with an acapella performance of an old Irish folk tune The Lakes Pontchartrain, Ryan immediately had the audience in utter silence and amazement. As the gig went on he seamlessly flowed from tune to tune and instrument to instrument, playing all the big ones and making sure to give us a taste of what he’s been working on.

A relatively unknown talent, Ryan has one of the best voices we’ve ever heard, no exaggeration. He is an undeniable talent and one that deserves every success. Joking with the crowd, belting out the sing-alongs and putting everything into each and every tune, we couldn’t have asked for more.

Whilst Ryan absolutely killed it, there’s no doubt his support got the crowd nicely fired up. Travis is a Tourist set the tone for the evening, with a husky Irish voice and first-class crowd interaction, we were ready to go.

Check out both acts and let us know what you think. As always, much love. MM x
